  • Crap I didn't realize what I had to do as Charles. Hope I can do it justice cause i am not a great singer but just got cast as him last minute.

  • Don't worry. They change this part of the show to give Charles the singing part instead of Barrett. As Charles, you'll just have a little Duet in the first act.

  • Cut from Titanic:

    "Social Class"

    ...by Caroline Neville, Charles Clarke

This song was one of three songs used in this spot for the "Clarkes" during previews, but like the two before it, it was cut when it was realized that the "Clarkes" story was best told in dialogue, rather than song. It originally followed "Lady's maid".

  • Cut from Titanic:

    "Behind Every Fortune"

    ...by Thayer, Widener, Astor, Guggenheim:

While the writers were heartsick about cutting this excellent song, they realized that with "Still" on the horizon, it would be completely overshadowed and slow down the tension being built to the climax.

  • Cut from Titanic:

    "No Moon" (outtake - fragment)

    ...by Frederick Fleet:

This brief piece originally explained the lack of binoculars in the crow's nest, but was felt to be inessential to the story in light of everything else going on.

  • Charles sung Fred Barrett's part! I liked it the other way because Barrett couldn't hold his fiancee, only her picture. I like how Charles original part came out.

  • Titanic was a lot different in the preview performances, April 1997. The "To The Lifeboats" scene prior to writing the sung version of this scene, it was originally a dialogue scene, culminating in Charles Clarke's solo version of "We'll Meet Tomorrow". Charles Clarke sang the whole song start to finish. The life boat section before this song had no music with flares going off in the background. I've listened to it and it had a very different feel to it.

  • Still gives me chills, 5 (almost 6!!!) years later.

  • @bpcham

For us, we had Barret as well but then for the big part we had Charles sing "Come say u love me as Kiss your eyes" it was Fantastic,

  • Vocally this is lovely. really lovely. I think there should have been more panic at the start though

  • Wait.. Isn't barrett supposed to sing that solo? The "I'll hold thee closely" one?

  • i kinda liked this song better as a group song :/

  • Yeah now that I have actually had a chance to see the song book and read the script I feel much better about it. We have a fantastic Barrett but thank you for the info =]
