The goal is to build two working prototypes which can be placed at the skid of a loading dock. One prototype consists of a laptop and a camera which is used for capturing visual tags. The other prototype consists of a laptop and a RF scanner. The software architecture of the prototypes should be hardware independent so that it is transparent for the application which sensor is being used. The prototypes will be tested in the field, but by system experts. These tests will reveal the physical characteristics of the hardware, for instance how far from the tag can it be read? how fast can the sensor pass and still get a reading? The results will document how each prototype performs in a production like environment. The system will be documented by a video which shows how the prototypes work and how they interact with its surroundings.
