This is the moment that Alyssa met Holly having left her six months previously in Dubai. Holly was put up for adoption after her family had to return to the UK, however her adopted family abandoned her. By pure chance, Alyssas mum claudia was browsing a dubai website and saw an advert saying that Holly required a home and was close to being put down. Having now established them selves in the UK they arranged to fly Holly home and surprise thier daughter Alyssa. This is the reaction!!!
Dear all,
When we first uploaded this video it was originally intended for friends and family, however, we have to acknowledge that with 110,000 viewings in six days, this has escalated beyond our immediate circle. Firstly, I would like to thank every single one of you for sharing our families joy at Alyssas reaction to bringing back Holly from Dubai. Thanks very much also, for all of your kind comments. Our original description perhaps does not befit the varied international audience that are now viewing our video so please allow me to add a few minor updates. I suppose that original intended audience were aware of our circumstances and Uk quarantine laws.
Firstly I would like to acknowledge the work of the animal charities in Dubai. These include Al Rahma Animal Welfare and Friends of Animals Dubai. As one of the comments mentioned, Holly was only minutes away from being put to sleep before she was rescued. They also had to track down the paperwork from the family that lost/abandoned Holly. Naturally, getting their cooperation was not easy and they were not keen on answering any telephone calls from the UK. Thank you all in every way for your patience.
Also let me briefly explain the process involved in bringing a dog to the UK.There are two options. Firstly a dog can go through six months of quarantine or secondly, the dog can have a blood test carried out. Six months after the blood test you can bring a dog into the country without having to go through quarantine. We always had every intention of bringing our dog home with us and we had had the blood test done six weeks before I lost my job. This would mean that
we needed to pay for five months of quarantine. I was returning to a country with economic difficulties and I had to face the very real prospects of long term unemployment and living on benefits. The monthly costs of the quarantine were actually higher than the monthly benefits that I would be able to claim to feed and house my family. As a father I had to make a very difficult decision. Our flights home were actually booked and cancelled several times due to our inability to leave Holly. When a family agreed to adopt her it seemed like the answer to
our prayers. Sadly this did not proove to be the case.
A whole string of coincidences came about in order to bring back our Holly and reunite her with our family. If theres on thing I have learnt, it is that the world will move for good if you allow it to. Upon finding her, there was never a doubt that we would try to bring her home despite all the obstacles.
Lastly, despite all of the praising comments I did moan a little about the cost of bringing back our fourth family member. However, as soon as I saw Alyssa's reaction I knew that no matter how long I lived, I would never have the same opportunity to make another human being so undefinably happy again. I hope, in sharing this with you, we have raised a smile or maybe even shed a tear, but regardless spread a little joy in the world.
Thank you all so much for your kindness!!
Has it still not occurred to people that they can read the description instead of posting stupid comments about why they left their dog behind?
