LATCHING ON
THE POLITICS OF BREASTFEEDING IN AMERICA
A film by Katja Esson
After filmmaker Katja Essons sister gave birth in Germany, she was able to breastfeed her baby anywhere and at any time. Returning home to New York, Esson found that breastfeeding was rarely practiced and largely unseen. Academy Award® Nominee Esson (Ferry Tales) turned her quirky eye on the subject and set out to learn why this was so. Her wide-ranging, frequently funny documentary highlights the intersecting economic, social, and cultural forces that have helped replace mothers milk with formula produced by a billion dollar industry, and reveals the challenges and rewards for women who buck the trend.

This has great potential - we are having a viewing of the video at the Gillings School of Global Public Health on Monday, April 4th, 2011, sponsored by the student club - BEBES - with their General Membership Meeting
3pm in Rosenau 417
WE NEED TO NORMALIZE THIS HEALTH-FUL PRACTICE! we need skilled support, workplace accomodation, and paid maternity leave, like every other "western" country, and like many developing countries.

This don;t happen in all America.
It only happens in the United States.
In Most of America , Mexico, Argentina, Brasil most of women use their breast to feed their babies.
Only in United States women lack that Primordial Freedom, pleas don't confund United States with America. United states is ONLY a country, America is OUR continent.

Right, they are relying solely on institutional sales and rentals (at least, for now). Perhaps after the film is more widely seen (at film festivals, etc.) they will consider releasing it on DVD for home use.

Bummer you can't buy it just to watch it at home. $89 is outrageous for a video I will watch at home a few times.
How will anyone get the message if they can't buy the DVD?
