Just like the British imposed border which scars the island of Ireland and creates division, the so called peace walls is another effect of the British occupation of the north east of Ireland.

  • there,s one in israel one sides nice, the others a shithole..

  • @salian66 Yes the Palestinians are kept in horrible conditions by Israel.

  • @trupnk Take a look at the wider picture of Britains divide and conquer tactic, they used division to rule all over the world and Ireland was no different. This wall is a result of British imperialism.

  • R.I.P Brendan Hughes, a Republican Hero.

The IRA didn't really hijack NICRA. It's members simply left after they were attacked by the police and military, feeling peaceful protest was useless. As Ivan Cooper said after Bloody Sunday 'You know what you've just done, don't you? You've destroyed the civil rights movement'.

That being said the PIRA did seek to exploit the resentment and mobilization NICRA had created, this mass movement is something they'd lacked in the 50's.

The Border Campaign ended years before the UVF started killing in 1966 and the UPV started bombing in 1969. It was short, did relatively little damage (6 dead RUC) and it ended with most of the IRA interned. By 1969 the IRA were a few aging Communists in Dublin and a few militants in the North with no arsenal. They took no part in the riots because the leadership had abandoned liberation, favoring class struggle. Northern Irish protesters mocked them with 'IRA=I RAN AWAY' graffiti.

  • @mst3k4evur The IRA border campaign.

The IRA were always there , the hi jacked the NICRA and used it for their own means.

The IRA were not for nationalist or Catholic civil rights , they killed Catholics and Nationalists.

  • @RedHandLad

The war started with the UVF, UPV and RUC killing Catholics and moderate Protestants in the civil rights movement. Had your heros in the Loyalist death squads not begun the war in the 60's the PIRA never would have existed.

Israel and the horribly corrupt Palestinian leadership.

  • @eirezrevenge Talk bollocks

  • @TomBarry192I Nah its a result of IRA attacking Protestants , ethnically cleansing Unionists and Loyalists .

  • The peace wall is there to keep the Irish Republicans from ethnically cleansing Protestants , from ethnically cleansing people that they consider to be settlers , and people they do not want there.

Unionist/Loyalist people have civil rights , have human rights and also self determination. They willdefend themselves , protect themselves.
