Once the Bee Gees experienced a career revival with the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack in 1977, the Gibb brothers' younger sibling Andy began his own solo career. Following his brothers' disco style, Andy Gibb's first three singles ("I Just Want to Be Your Everything," "(Love Is) Thicker Than Water," and "Shadow Dancing") all hit number one. Three more consecutive Top Ten hits followed, cementing his overnight sensation status. Despite the number four "Desire," Gibb's streak of Top Ten hits began to slip in 1980; the following year he had his last Top 40 hit, "Me (Without You)." After a brief stint as the host of Solid Gold, Gibb turned to acting, where he failed to replicate the enormous success of his recording career. He developed a massive cocaine addiction, which led to his death in 1988 from an inflammatory heart virus. He was 30 years old. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide

suth...who knows? but barry was the leader+ he really didnt understand his little bro...i really dont think so. but i totally understand barry. i heard his interview and he explained the sheer emptiness that engulfed him when they could no longer be there for andy. its 1 of the sadest statements i ever heard anyone make. ''as the funeral ended...we looked at andy + we had no choice but to watch these morticians in blue wheel away andy...and at that point barry understood nothin leftt2do for him
according to what i read...andy would have had a decent chance to survive if the doctors had full knowledge of his condition. because i believe he spent a lot of time in malibu. probably would hv worked out too well for andy anyway coz with a bad ticker....he would be limited to what he could do. well thats my $3.42 worth. i hope people remember him for what he obviously was...mainly a good gentle soul.
also not surprising was that he had fierce words with andy...that were his last spoken to him. it haunted barry for years. too bad he didnt hv a thumbnail sketch of adictive behavior. looking closely at andy after 1985 you can see his face distort. water gain and clearly in some photos he appeared to me like he was 35 or so. looking at the photo shoots of victoria principal...its v. ez to see how he would give up after she left him.
what did Barry say to him? i would hate to know that i said something harsh to anybody and then they died before i could make amends. where are you getting your info from?
as he evidentally approved of letting andy go to england to a very cloistered acient looking house...to ''sit down+write music. thats all....simple enough. well evidentally it wasnt so simple for andy. + it doesnt come as a big shock that couldnt..+ that he turned to drinking heavily while in that hellhole. barry pd the ultimate price for his low i.q. by the death of his little bro. anyone with a 5th grade education could see it was unwise to send this poor soul alone to england to do this.
the son of bob dylan. jacob i think was his name. bt i digress. andy mustve been under lots of pressure from every direction [including himself] its understandable how he involved to coke. what makes me sad about the whole thing is that its hard to be mad at barry. from all the info i gathered it appears he adored andy+really tried v. hard to help him. clearly when u see barry w/out his facial hair u can see he was leader. problem is he wasnt much in the brains dept.
yeah, was ez to see what happened to this poor fella. he dropped out of h.school...then struck out to sing. you know he was gonna do something coz lets face it... he was the l.bro of the bee gees. + at that time...they were IT....+i mean IT> they smoked the charts. so andy was certainly bound for some level of success. esp. since barry kept writing for him. when u stop and think about this...it mustve been pretty hard for him inwardly. from what i understand there is an. artist who was like ths
