The people of Lopburi rake in a lot of money from tourists who visit to see the monkeys. Thus, they are able to feed their families. This festival is their way of thanking the monkeys for their prosperity. Logical or not, this is Thailand, most things here don't make "sense" to Westerners. So chill out.

monkey buffet party immediately followed by the monkey poop-a-thon... with events such as largest one-piece, best assortment, and dodgeball..s of poop thrown by monkeys
