The Super Trouper album was ABBA at their peak; accomplished song writing, state of the art production and a confident feel throughout. Me And I is one of their classiest, most grown-up songs, but it still has a lighthearted touch and a glorious sing-a-long poppiness that I have always loved.
For my remix, I have used some quotes by Benny, Bjorn, Agnetha and Frida from the 1980 documentary Words And Music - a bonus feature on the special edition of Super Trouper. Enjoy!

  • Great! I want to know all the plugins you use... Here, back in the Eastern Europe, we steal them... You buy them, I guess... Anyway, this is a great work with Cubase!

  • @AkulaUA

I'm sure there are plenty of people in Eastern Europe who actually pay for their plugins, too. There were times when a decent hardware synth would cost at least the equivalent of 500 euros. Now you can get great plugins for a lot less, and even really good free ones. Anyway - I am glad you like this mix. A list of all my plugins would be quite long, but favourites include Sylenth 1, Predator, Omnisphere, Trillian, Vanguard, FM8, Vengeance Philta and Arts Acoustic Reverb.

  • Benny: "When we come out of the studio and the record is finished, and we're proud of it, and can say: this is the best we can do, for now."

Bjorn: "We write songs that we would like to hear. If other people enjoy it too, that's a perfect situation."

Agnetha: "We do everything ourselves with our voices, try to change it all the time"

Bjorn: "It's amazing how different instruments, different ways of playing can change a song."

  • Benny: "Oh I love my synthesizers. There are so many good things around these days - you can do anything. I use the synthesizers to add on the records what an orchestra would do otherwise. There's nothing better than work with music."

Frida: "I think the lyrics are much better now than they were some years ago"

Bjorn: "It's a constant kick you know, to write a good song"

  • Benny: "I'd like everybody to be entertained from what we're doing, from our music. That's the main goal for us"

Bjorn: "It's the excitement, and the benefits of working with a team that really keeps us going"

Frida: "The most important thing is that we know by now that we have made very many people happy with our music. And erm, I mean, that's something that means a lot to us"

Bjorn resume The magic of Music and ABBA's Music

Your remix is a new version but respect ABBA Style and Sound

  • I wasn't sure about this one with the Words & Music additions but, after a little while of listening it sounds so right now. Super Trouper was ABBA's greatest album as far as I'm concerned.

  • LOVE this song... would be nice to hear a version without the voiceover's tho... Not trying to criticize but would like a version I can play when I'm spinning. Love your work, Matt.

  • @MattPopOfficial If you're talking about really good free plugins for this style of music, why not try SQ8L , which accurately emulates the classic Ensonique synth. Amazing 80's sounds!

  • This is so great! How can I download this for my iPhone? Is it possible?

  • Super!

  • This is just unbelievably fantastic!!

  • Jesus! It's going to be almost a week since I found this and I still can't release this one and your mix of "If It Wasn't From The Nights" from constant Repeat mode on all my tune players (home, car, gym). I just can't get tired of listening them. They're so perfect!

If I repeat these songs one more time, I'm scared my audio players are going to sue me! Lol!

(PS: The "Arrival" one keeps also running very close).

  • As I hear this one I wonder again if you haven't found a secret method to steal the brain cells of Michael B. Tretow and Phil Harding, put them inside your head and make them work together. Because this must be what it should have sounded like should those two have ever collaborated together, rights? ;) Lo!

Congrats on another impeccable creation, Matt!

Thank You (so much) For YOUR Music!

  • absolute phantastic !
