  • You can tell he was newton's teacher

  • Quiet without being shy, confident without being arrogant and talented without being snobbish, Eric was one of musics true legends.

He rewrote the rule book of what a guitar is capable of and has redefined the term "Talent" again and again.

    We will miss you Eric...

  • @Cambionx Newton's scratch-plated guitar is actually Eric Roche's, it got passed onto him by Nick Benjamin after Eric died. I don't know if it's the same one that's in this video, though.

  • I was lucky enough to be taught by him on two occasions at Bath Gutar festival, an absolute legend on the guitar,he was and still is an inspiration to me. He had talent that i can only dream of. God bless you Eric

Yeh, it looks as if he has worn the finish in that area, but if your looking to achieve this affect on your own guitar and don't want to wreck the finish, your best off going to your local guitar store or getting someone who knows what they are doing to glue on a thin piece of timber to that area which has no finish on it. Artists like Newton Faulkner and Thomas Leeb have done this and it sounds awesome. Check out Leeb's Desert Pirate video ;) Hope this helps

  • @ILiveForScience I think that in Eric's case he has worn the finish down but i do know that you can actually get a sort of plate to put on the guitar that doesn't affect the tone. I've seen one on one of Newton Faulkner's guitars in a lot of the videos here on youtube.

  • On the lower part of Eric's guitar near the neck, there's a bit which he uses for scraping, guiro-like techniques. Did he achieve that through wearing the finish down, or is there a different type of finish/ a coating on that area? Thanks to anyone who can answer this : )
