Volks Railway at Brighton - arguably the worlds first electric railway built in 1883 by Magnus Volk. Please note that the web site trailed in the clip is no longer operational.
Volk's Railway was not the world's first electric railway. It may possibly have been the third, after a demonstration line at an exhibition in Berlin and another in Northern Ireland, both of which closed long ago. Volk's was the first to open in Great Britain and is now the oldest electric railway in the world still operating.
Volk's Electric Railway (VER) is the oldest operating electric railway in the world (the world's first electric railway, in Lichterfelde from 1881, no longer operates). Great video !
