Success came early to pianist Yundi Li . At age 18, he won first prize at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Poland, and the following year launched a spate of recordings for the prestigious Deutsche Grammophon label. He now goes by simply Yundi. With his pop idol looks, he's a household name in China. He joins us to share music from his new all-Chopin recording his debut on EMI and to perform live in our studio.

  • Lang Lang is all about the spectacle of the performance because he is a showman. Yundi is all about the poetry of the piece because he is an artist.

Lang Lang is still awesome! Both are great musicians.

  • I listened his nocturne13 first here!it is amazing. I love him piano very much!

  • @avq5 wow, a non-negative comparison between Lang Lang and another pianist. What happened

  • you are awesome.

  • Very good interpretation. Good sensitivity to tone and color. A big part of me wishes he didn't do the head shaking and faces. Terrific pianist nonetheless.

  • @avq5 Come on. Part of why you say this is because Yundi Li resides in works of Chopin when Lang Lang is known for playing more classical pieces.

  • I love you Yundi but i liked valentina igoshina's interpretation of this particular piece more

  • @xiaonoobiexd Chopin Nocturne No.13 Opus 48-1 :-)

  • @avq5 I consider Lang Lang a great spectacle. He is able to keep his sanity with all of his popularity and still feel the music and be a part of the music. He never forgets that...

  • What is this piece called?

  • Hong Kong people are so lucky. You might be seeing him walking on the street someday. I would probably scream then faint. I love him so much.
