2009 05 23 River Brent, Swans, Adults Fighting or Mating on Nest 01 Action

I'm not entirely sure what's going on here - is it a fight or are they mating? After they'd finished, the upper swan chased the lower one away.

There was a third adult swan on the river which didn't come near these two, and after what happens in this video the lower swan, presumably the female, chased the upper one away.

The video is silent because, since this was taken at extreme zoom, there was basically nothing relevant audible. The extreme zoom, and the fact I was standing on a slightly slippery slope, might also explain the shakiness of the camerawork.

i can tell ya whats going on here, the male swan on the top is a rogue male and not the father of the chicks as he can be seen trying to kill them and he is trying to mate with the female and she isnt having none of it.

They were mating but he wasn't the father so he tryed killing them as u can see he's bitting them so mabey that's y she chased him away
