@LaidbackPlayboy He wasn't built for the street. They made that clear. Truth is, the one attribute he had, his intelligence, was betrayed because the schools betrayed him. Dukie is microcosim for kids that are lost in the system.

Sad to say, but that long stare Dukie took was a look into his future. This is what the system does to the poor & underclass: they step on them, over them, or right pass them. The educational system is garbage, the economy won't allow the help the community needs, and the government is too worried about their showmanship to be concerned with someone like Dukie. He never had a chance...
