Ironic as it may be, the Roman Catholic Church is most gender equality church out there. Catholics are exposed to female authority more readily then most other Christian groups. The obvious authority figure is The Virgin Mary. Some more less obvious role of woman authority figures is their influence in education. The church does not divide classes by gender and most teachers and principles of Catholic schools are woman. A result, more woman in elected office of Catholic countires!

@skateriand2 hey great question: the simple answer is God chose Mary as his earthly mother. If she was good enough for him than it is not our place to judge and make her any lower than she was. She was the first person to be with jesus and the first to believe he was God. She heard God's call for her through the archangel and replied without hesitating. She is only a person, but she is the perfection of what it means to be a witness of faith
