I was lucky enough to see this on its flight to Builth just west of the malvern hills, where from an elevated position we could here the sound of its amazing engines coming for ages and almost look into the cockpit as it flew by,awresome
My grandfather was a rear gunner on Lancasters, one of the many that didn't make it back. I've seen this Lancaster before, but to be flying low over my home town, in fact directly over my grandfather's old house, was probably the most emotional moment I've ever had at the Royal Welsh. There wasn't a dry eye around as she turned and made her final pass up the Wye.
Nice one - Don't know if you know the reasoning behind the aircraft's appearance, was due to the fact that one of the Show's top brass, died last year (?) and was a rear gunner on Lancasters during the war. A fitting tribute.
