Demonstrating motion blur on my ST30. Wondering if this is normal or if there is something wrong with my TV / setup.

  • Seems like you have this figured out already, but this is normal with plasmas. I have a Panasonic VT30 and it does the same thing, but I don't even notice it anymore. For the record, the ST30 you have has the lowest input lag on any TV available right now so from a technical standpoint it's the best for gaming.

  • @savagesanity Yup, looks like it's normal, and I don't really notice it any more either. I do hope someday we have TVs (or games) without this kind of blur, but it's manageable.

  • After some researching, it seems the comments below are accurate. In a way, it's "too good" and displaying the lower frame rate so well that you can notice it. My old LCD was so blurry that you couldn't see the frames like that. Still annoying though; can't wait until perfect displays are showing 120fps content. :)

  • hey i have a 55" st30 i will play around on ark am city and see if i notice the same thing.

  • @homerofwar2 Thanks! I've been doing some research and it seems like this is normal for 30fps games on plasmas. It happens on LCDs too, but is less noticeable because of motion blur. Still deciding if I should live with it or try out a newer LCD and see how it does.

  • This is False counturs bug, when game runs 50Hz like every 30 fps games u have this.

  • Thinkin about buying this tv for gaming.......you should upload more videos like this.

  • It's normal. The game runs at 30fps. This is what happens to game that run at 30fps. You'll notice that game with 60fps, such as COD don't.

  • I know on the PC version it has a toggle for motion blur, so maybe that's what this is.

  • There's nothing wrong with the TV. I play games on a CRT and the exact same "double imaging" is displayed on 30fps games. As most people don't have CRT's anymore, they have nothing to compare to and therefore presume it's another disadvantage of plasma. In reality, it's displaying the image exactly as it should.
