How Bonaire has to cope with the upcoming mass tourism. Many divers still don't have the diving skills even with a padi ticket. Will the reef still be there after the year of the reef

  • poor poor coral

  • I don't understand how anyone could or even want to flail around on the bottom like that doing all that damage. I was just in Bonaire last April and my guide commented on how far away I stayed from the corals and how I watched my buoyancy. Divers need to know that the damage they do today will spoil the reefs tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing even if it is sad.

  • stupid tourists!!!!!!!!

  • I live in Hawaii and I see the same thing all the time. Tourists and locals alike. Fish collectors walk all over the coral collecting fish for the aquarium trade..Boats anchor on the coral all the time. Yesterday I watched a local diver standing on coral to take his friends picture. Some people just don't care, even if you tell them that it kills the coral, they are going to do what they want. Sad but true. Don't tread on coral.

  • I wonder what nationality these so called divers were, and what organisation supposedly trained them. Also see the videos by Sean Paton dealing with pollution on land in Bonaire.

  • Idiots like thse should have their c-cards revoked!

  • OUCH!!!!!!

  • This is why Islanders hate the tourist. They need to understand and honor local customs and respect the very natural beauty that drew them there in the first place.
