That's a very cool sight to see... nice work.
-
Look at how small they are compared to the GE!
-
A lot of new European equipment is coming with a 3 for 1 coupler. Can couple to knuckle, link pin, or hook and buffer.
-
@UnionPacificBNSF They use a screw link, a type of chain-based coupling.
-
What kind of couplers do those locomotives use.
-
@petro062 there going to holland, and then to france... not UK

The wagon between the CN locomotive and class 66 is a Couple car (one car on one side with an automatic Couple and a chaincouple on the other) or that the brakes?

This wagon is often called a transition car and has a North American coupler (automatic) on one end and a hook and link (European) coupler on the other end. It also has brakes. The brakes on the locomotives are also operational - they just respond a little more slowly because the brake pipe diameter is smaller. This is why the export locomotives are no longer carried in regular freight trains - the brake shoes were worn out by the time they got to Halifax.

I believe there is a standard European coupling but I am sure that someone in Europe can answer.

Thanks Gustavo.
Yes I think the box on the roof is an air conditioner. Several VIA locomotives in Canada have recently received similar boxes on their roofs and these are air conditioners.
