Yesterday before a mixed crowd of college students and community members at Ashford University in Clinton, Ia., Senator Barack Obama read from a policy speech on Iraq that calls for a "surge in diplomacy with all of the nations of the region," and immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq to be completed by the end of next year.

His speech outlined a "surge of diplomacy" to confront mounting humanitarian disasters in Iraq.

During his "Comprehensive Plan to Turn the Page in Iraq," Obama mentioned President Bush many times. He drew a sharp contrast between himself and the president (in a line reminiscent of Hillary Clinton) when he said, "I will be a president who listens to the American people, not a president who ignores them."

He went off-script to repudiate the testimonies of General Petreaus and Ambassador Crocker before the Senate this week when he said, "We are at the same level of violence now that we were in June 2006. That is the improvement that has been made after an additional 30,000 troops and billion dollars have been spent in Iraq ... there may not be immediate, constant warfare on the streets of Baghdad but nobody believes that the dynamics of sectarianism have changed there."

Another impromptu moment came during his pledge for more money to displaced Iraqis. One man in the audience demanded attention for global AIDS funding. The senator finished reading his line and then patiently reminded the man, "We're not talking about global AIDS today, we're talking about Iraq." Obama then included global AIDS near the end of his speech within a list of other challenges that could be met, "when we end this war in Iraq."

  • The Federal Reserve is a privately owned company. Under the guise of the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, an elite group of bankers pushed the bill that gave our printing press to this private entity. We sell them bonds, they print us money to use, but it comes with interest attatched. Almost all of the unconstitutional Federal Income tax goes to pay the interest on the bank notes. It is a scam! We have been unwittingly enslaved by a corrupt banking cartel. RESEARCH IT YOURSELF!

  • i was at this speech, I go to Ashford and love it! Obama is going to be such a great president! i have family who is against him cuz of his religion, and his priorities, I'd rather have barack obama for president over Hillary Clinton.

  • @ashday111 Wow... Maybe it would be a good idea to actually look at some of the bills that he has signed into law...

  • @MasterSethern i have mine so please the next time you have an opinion tell it to your imaginary friend who would care.

  • @MasterSethern wow really ron paul? how many times has he run in the GOP? how many times has he been a candidate? he may be a good senator and what not but i don't think he would make a very good president at all. my opinion and i don't care that you have yours...i'm just saying Obama came in during a recession and he has been trying his hardest trying to get us out, and everything that has been going on since the start of the war. I give him props for doing that! you have your opinion and

  • @ashday111 Have you ever read something on the founders? You will find out that if the country was still back to it's beginnings America would be the top of the world. AND Congress wouldn't have to do anything at all... But instead there is soooo much corruption and money flowing through the Government and it causes things to be harder then they need to be. The Presidents ONLY job... Is to protect the people's freedom and that is it :3 Also, President Obama is no good, only Ron Paul :3

  • @ashday111 people may get mad that he does but thats Americans for you. This world for jobs isn't easy! look at the computer you are on and what not. people spent years and what not working on it to get to where we are now with technology! being president isn't easy. if you think it will be easy then you haven't lived life, because even senators and house reps still have a lot to do and a lot of other things as well.

  • @MasterSethern It's not all about vacations and sitting on your ass all day...you must just gotten out of high school. what do you do for a job? or what are you going to school for the study of thinking the world is easy, and things are easy for people to do? There are summits and plenty of political gatherings that you have to attended as well as doing your research for these bills, because there are clauses that do come with bills. his job isn't easy yes he may take vacations and

  • @ashday111 Even have to think. And he can take vacations whenever he wants to. Or until the American people start getting upset at him for it. But I mean his entire life in the White House is a luxury. So cmon! Being President would be... Freaking easy!

  • @ashday111 Ron Paul is an amazing man. He wants everyone to have individual liberties to live the way they want to live... Unlike Socialist Barry Soetoro... I would... LOVE to do his job... I personally don't think it's that hard to 1... Read a screen... And 2... Sign bills that passed through Congress... I mean really. He has soooo many people that give him information, such as experts and what not. So it's not like he is thinking about everything himself. Far from it. He doesn't

  • @MasterSethern wow very american of you but i'm not that stupid to realize he had come into presidency during a recession, and has plenty of blame of American's these days for what he has done and what he hasn't done...would you like to do his job? i would love to see you try and do it, being president isn't as easy as it seems. i myself work hard in my job to get nothing done, and it being reversed after i leave for the day. So really what can ron paul do for me? he's like everyone else running

  • @ashday2011 Lololololololololololol, come look back 4 years later. Faaail... Ron Paul 2012!!!!
