Shinkansen stopping and leaving Shinagawa station.

It looks like the job of this attendant is to make sure everyone is safely off and then on the train, and then signal once it's clear.

I didn't record the entire time the train was there (there's a bit of a skip if you watch closely) ... but the train is only stopped at the station for about 2 minutes.

I caught the next train to Odawara station, from the track on the other side (and then took the bus to Hakone). Trains on this platform depart from both directions (on both sides of the platform).

By the time the end of the train (16 cars long) is leaving the station, it must be travelling at close to 50 mph.
