Lynott and Grand Slam perform "Dedication" at the Marquee in London on 12/4/1984. This was NOT a Thin Lizzy song, but a song written by Lynott and Laurence Archer from Grand Slam.

  • It's really amazing that the Lizzy estate, i.e. the 2 Chrises, tried to pass this off as a Thin Lizzy song and screw Laurence Archer out of his publishing knowing Grand Slam performed this song live a bunch of times. Sheer greed......

  • That's because Chris Morrison and Laurence Archer had a huge falling out in early 1985. Archer was mad (and rightfully so) that Lynott was using the songs he wrote, specifically this one and "Can't Get Away" and planned on using them for his 3rd solo record, taking full credit for them. Basically, Archer told Chris Morrison that this needed to stop or he was done working with Lynott. Morrison told him to piss off, and that's the extent of it.

  • @krisg6 If you love the keyboard, check out our live version of dedication on our page. You will be pleased. Kind regards- When Gary Met Lizzy Tribute Act.

  • i was at this gig and many other Grand Slam gigs and lizzy gigs before that and i know Lawrence wrote it and Phil took it on, but who cares, at the time it was great. I sat down with Lawrence after Phil died and both cried for such a sad loss. So much talent and such a wonderful man.

  • Heroin has killed so many talented musicians, but none as beautiful as Phil. His soul is dearly missed.

  • it's weird hearing a "live" version of this song, since most people are only familiar with the posthumous "recreation" of the tune done in the nineties. if lizzy had played this at live aid, they would have been the hit of the show. (though for many complcated reasons, that was not to be.) in any case, some of those grand slam shows must have been terrific........

  • glorioso tema, gloriosa cancion!!! Phil por siempre en nuestros corazones!!! larga vida a Thin Lizzy, Grand Slam!!!! gloria a Dios por estas bandas!

  • I've also read that Robertson wrote the music to " Don't believe a word" but didn't get a credit???

  • Uuuggghhhh......keyboards!!! What were you thinking Phil???
