thats crazy, i bet there was a nuclear holocaust long ago in ancient times and the insects built an immunity. there could be no other explanation. cause i believe in ancient aliens so........ think about that for a sec

The area of the effect you've described is much smaller than the area hit by deadly amounts of radiation... Also, Neutron bombs would leave everything inorganic in a pretty good condition while killing organics, those bugs might just survive that as well...
