  • There are a few of these maybe 3 or 4, I don't remember exactly, based at Offutt AFB in Bellevue, Nebraska. Sometimes, the E-4s are doing touch-and-gos at Offutt, my house is about 7 miles down the extended centerline of runway 12 but that only happens maybe once a month or so.

  • Yes, I've seen one. Saw it when I was with the army, it landed on a base off the continental US, came at night, left at night, no one knew what it was and what it was doing there!

  • @AndrewSephiroth Wrong. It's a Boeing E-4b.

  • @Freesoler01 You, my friend, are clueless.

  • This plane was landing in Tulsa International earlier this month.

  • Why does it have like a million antenas? :S

  • The E-4B code name NIGHTWATCH, is an emergency airborne command post for the senior staff of the Defense Department. It was used on 9/11. Any of the four plane in the fleet can fill this role. NIGHTWATCH is the part of the Defense Department's network of airborne command posts that operate under the umbrilla code name LOOKING GLASS. The Command posts in the LOOKING GLASS program include: LOOKING GLASS (SAC/Strategic Command), NIGHTWATCH (DOD Senior Staff), BLUE SCOPE (PACCOM), & 3 others!

  • that is a very nice VC

  • computer generated crap

  • Simple, it's an E-4B Nightwatch. This aircraft serves as a mobile command post for the US Air Force. There are only 4 of this heavily modified 747-200's in the E-4 fleet.

Note: This is not Air Force One, and is not used for the same purpose as N29000 (Air Force One). And an aircraft is only deemed the name Air Force One if the President of the United States is aboard. So, only in the event that something severe happens to N29000 1 or 2 will an E-4B become Air Force One.
