@mario54671 You are an idiot--using your logic, you would have considered Mozart immature.

This guy is a great conductor/musical director. My hat is off to him.

@rdhobby Sorry about replying to the forever-old comment, but I like the way you think! And as I am in a high-school band, I feel that even if we can't play harder music perfectly, I think it is fun to play it well and even just for sightreading!

Get off your high horse, Mario54671. I would rather pay top dollars to see these kids perform.
To the students, great performance. I wish I still live in Davis so I can watch the performance.
Go Blue Devils. We are the big Blue Machine. Class of 1990.

I'm surprised this audience knows not to clap in between movements. The audience in Hollywood Bowl could use these people. Also, I must say, yes this is a high school performing this, and that's the problem right there. Something that requires the virtuosity and exactness like Beethoven symphonies, a high school shouldn't be performing these. That's why professional orchestras like LA Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin, etc. play this, they're ready to play it.

So what you are saying is that pieces need to be performed perfectly and only professionals should do hard pieces. I think that there are a lot of amateur musicians that do music for fun that would disagree. No, this performance was not perfect but the kids had fun with it. There are also a number of students that come out of this program that become professional musicians and this kind of experience gives them a pretty good head start when the go on to further their education.
