This video comparison between the original and the newly restored Apollo 11 video shows Neil Armstrong read the Apollo 11 plaque that is dedicated to the mission.

To commemorate the 40th anniversary of Apollo 11, NASA released partially restored video of a series of 15 memorable moments from the July 20 moonwalk. The source material for the restoration project is the best of the available broadcast-format video. Lowry Digital, Burbank, Calif., is significantly enhancing the video using the company’s proprietary software technology and other restoration techniques. The video is part of a larger restoration project that will be completed in September and provide a newly restored high definition video of the entire Apollo 11 moonwalk. The completed restoration will provide the public with the highest quality video of this historic event.

  • Funny how the nuts come out of the woodwork when it comes to NASA and the moon landings.

NASA's space program is humanity at it's best. We are by nature a curious and adventurous animal. Exploring beyond our own world is the ultimate quest.

  • I wish Neil and Buzz could punch EVERY moon-landing conspiracy theorist right in the chops.

  • @tom67264 Those massive fireworks shows down at Cape Canaveral sure are something, aren't they? Wish they'd actually show us working space ships. (End sarcasm here)

NASA should be commended. They are one of the most underfunded departments in the USA, and yet they love to show the world the amazing things they're doing. They don't release pics and video because they're covering something up; they want you to share their discovery and be thrilled as they are.

  • @fredgt28 The first working contained-air submarine was created in 1775. Rocket technology has been around since ancient China, but Robert Goddard arguably advanced the craft to a manned propulsion standard in 1914. Don't even TRY to tell me that by 1969 it was impossible for somebody to put the two together. Space flight is really quite simple, at the core of things. It's the calculations on where you want to end up and how you'll get back that take some effort.

  • moon gas off of venus

  • I see a constant artefact in the side of the helmet of the astronaut in the right side of screen.

  • The lunar rover weighed about 200 kg, or about 440 lbs. Of course you would know that if you had taken 5 SECONDS TO DO A GOOGLE SEARCH before running your worthless yap in the comment section.

  • I liked the first one better, so it was a waste of time and taxpayers dollar for nothing again, whats next?? Nasa doing the Space Shuttle to keep Americans amused so they can do something else that the general public dont know anything about??

  • much better...

  • hmz, didn't seem like an enhancement too me. It's more blurry. :s
