  • Hey please read this if you are a fire fighter or whatever.. im 14. and when i grow up i wanna be a fire fighter not because i like playing with firetrucks or because of the excitement. but i want to help people and i would like to do it as a career. i just wanted to know if you made money from it and if you do how much. also if you could give me any pointers that would be nice. and one more thing. if you do it for a career do you have to go to college because i want to go to college :).

  • @Emeriican I am a Firefighter/Paramedic I've been in the Fire service for 20 yrs. U can make a decent living as a firefighter but the important thing is not the money, its doing a job that you love. Being a firefighter is not a job, it's who you are. Not everyone can, or will do it. No matter how much you pay them. It starts with a willingness to act, to help people, even when it's dangerous. Sounds a little like you. U just need the training. PS i still love playing with the firetrucks!

  • @Emeriican no problem buddy check out my video on my page i plan to have more coming

  • @bthrush4 Thanks :D

  • @Emeriican i agree with everything chasefire said. Im a firefighter myself third generation. I suggest starting out as a volunteer take advantage of the training and also you can get a feel for the job and see if it is something your cut out for and passionate about. Im not downing you in any way but it very hard physically and mentally especially seeing the things we do. i wish you the best of luck buddy and let me know if you need anymore advice.

  • 1 year left and I am will be applying :) can not wait.

  • @Emeriican and we had to help hold them back because the site was to ugly for them to see but i mean im not trying to scare you but help you we have also saved people and people really normally do not really think as you go by how important you are they get mad because you slowed them down but every now and then you get the thank you and that feels great people knowing you try your best. i would do it i have not woke up one day and said i wish i never did this i love going to work!!

  • @Emeriican it is a great job go to your local volunteer company if your thinking of doing it im sure they are more then willing to take on junior firefighters they are near me also i know you can get a bachelors in it i have a associates but you will see things you probably wish you did not the worse i can think remember it this girl was maybe 17 and she hit a tree and landed about 20 feet from the car and did not make it and her parents found out and where on the scene.

  • I am a Firefighter/EMT in Louisiana for going on 22 yrs now ,and i work as a Captain out of the station i'm in , trust me its not just a career its a way of life..

  • im taking my test to become a volly for my neighborhood fire department soon im only 14 wish me luck!!!

  • @Emeriican I've been a firefighter going on a year and a half, i would highly recomend joining a volunteer firecompany when you can. The work isn't easy, or fun. The hours are almost always annoying, and the things you see will both terrifying and humble you, but at the end of the day it is worth it, but not everyone can do it, just know there is no shame in not being able to do it. Stay safe.
