  • 1

Joy, that near to me remains,

Come to me, my true love.

    Night sinks into the grove

You are my light and day.

    Anxiously beats heart on heart

    Hope itself soars heavenward.

    How true, a sad song.

    The song of true love,

    that must die.

  • 2 I know the song. I heard it often in younger, in better days. It has yet another verse-- Do I know it still? Though sorrow becomes dark, Come to me, my true love. Lean (to me) your pale face Death will not separate us. If you must leave me one day, Believe, there is an afterlife.

  • It makes me cry a lot! Renee is so intense... her eyes... Divina!

  • Fleming's voice always shine in this kind of music. This is one of the arias that most fit her lush and smooth timbre and expressivity. Her suave and reflexive stage manner also blends perfectly with this melody. What I most admire in her singing is that she sounds in live recordings just as good as she is in her studio recordings. :-)

  • @MrAndredekock and L Price

  • Renee Fleming is so enchanting to watch and listen to.

I'll keep any other comments to myself.

  • I cryed a lot, made me feel good , thinking of my Bibbi

  • This really is not a beautiful rendition of this sublime music. Take a leaf out of Dame Kiri's interpretation Ms Fleming, or study your compatriot's divine version, Ms Sills!

  • Versethe kein Wort sie singt.

Anna-Sofie von Ottern ist viel besser. :-)

  • DIVINA , PERFECTA .
