This is my point:
"Chinese people believe and say openly things that Westerners may or may not also believe yet would be embarrassed to say in public. The idea is that they don't see anything wrong with the idea so they've no reason to hide it. A Westerner knows that saying "Black people are ugly!" is hurtful and offensive - and would avoid stating it in public even if they actually felt that way.

  • I think a more fitting leader comparison would be with those people who idolize George Washington in books and monuments (he was the first president and not much more), or Abe Lincoln. But yeah, it does seem like they're more open about admitting this things...makes you wonder if they realize the ugliness in what they're saying? Certainly its healthier to express those feelings because someone could then correct them, or at least they'll be more conscious of them. But sometimes its just rude

  • @keyinregulus7

I agree - the culitish fetishism for the 1776 mythology - that's a better comparison. I think they don't see anything "ugly" about these statements - which is why they don't hold them back.

  • Good points made in this video. I really respect asian cultures. If I could put it in a single word, they are more Honest

  • @Sepero1

They're not more honest, They're less honest on the whole - they just don't consider this to be something that they need to lie about. They're not aware on any level that this isn't ok and so they don't have the cognitive dissonance - where they feel some undefined impulse lie to everyone - and even themselves about it. Their false selves respectively don't know that this is something worthy of hiding.

  • When I was in Beijing a couple of years ago, I was approached by a young Chinese girl who suggested that we should go to a tea-house for conversation. I did this and found myself being expected to pick up the bill. Events like this happened two more times. Is it usual for young Chinese girls to approach western male visitors to take them out for tea? This can be very expensive. Your comments will be appreciated.

  • @MagnusNielsenBewick

Yeah that sounds normal. As an older guy - if you have even a little bit of money its an all you can eat sexual buffet around here - as far as I've read/heard. Doesn't mean its a good idea - just that it is.

  • most girls are whores sadly science proves it not all girls but most

  • nice "f" bomb :)

  • @Ksabrs45 Thanks. Actually, on reflection, I don't think a sexual transaction was ever contemplated. It jsut seems to be a practice of young Chinese women to 'pick up' Western males and invite them to tea houses and expect them to pay the bill - which can be very expensive. I am very willing to engage with young Chinese people (with no expectation of sexual favours in exchange!) but I find tea-houses very costly. On one occasion I was set back to the equivalent of almost £100!

Interesting. In my experience asians tend to hide their true intentions less, when they say they will do something they do it, and they will do almost anything for a good friend

In the USA, people show up late, and will often take the opportunity to step on someone else to make themselves look better

Perhaps I meant "trustworthy" more than "honest". Though, my experience is mainly from Singapore, and not China

Maybe you could do a video on how you perceive the Chinese as less honest
