Heavy snow and graupel (snow pellets) fall during a thundersnow event at Ski Santa Fe, NM on Sunday, February 8, 2009. This video was taken a minute or so after the third of three rumbles of thunder, when led the ski area to temporarily close the lifts. The sound you hear is that of the snow pellets, which were up to 1/4 inch in diameter, hitting my helmet and other objects. About 3 inches of snow fell between 2 and 4 p.m.
