Explore strange, new worlds and seek out new life with a virtual trip aboard the starship Enterprise at the Detroit Science Center opening 2.14.09 and running through Labor Day 2009. The show will cover about 12,000 square feet on two levels. Visitors will be able to wander around a replica of the original Enterprise's bridge or the transporter room from "Star Trek: The Next Generation" (and have your picture taken). They can see re-creations of the Guardian of Forever set from the classic episode "City on the Edge of Forever," along with Capt. Picard's quarters. Or ride one of two flight simulators. Suppose you guys are right, geeks and dorks abound. Thing is though, as a kid in the early seventies I loved Star Trek after school in reruns. It would be fun to actually step onto that bridge and sit in that seat that I remember so well as a kid. Don't think I could bring myself to dress up though. I might be the first captain ever to knock back a cold one on the bridge, MAKE IT SO. Final thought: Can someone please beem Spock up a new hair style? Live long and pro-create.
