Forbes' Tree Crickets are identified by the pulses per second evident in sound analysis of their song. On cooler days, the pulses per second is lower; on hot days the pulses per second are faster. This can be detected without sound equipment -- this male was found in a small patch of catmint plants. On a near 90 degree day -- the song was noticibly higher pitched and rapid. On a 60 degree day, the song was much slower and lower pitched.
