Baby Bear Cubs: Close Up!!! Avon, CT

Close-up footage of tiny little bear cubs!!! While the birds chirp away upset at the demise of their feeder, enjoy a twelve minute glimpse into the life of bears. See them, eat, play, climb the tree, sit on each other and sleep. Be sure to watch all the way to the end to see the cubs get down from the tree and rejoin their momma when she returns.

The story behind the video: A momma bear showed up in our front yard and took down our bird feeder. She had two tiny cubs with her who, at the barking of our dog, promptly ran up a tree. After momma finished eating the bird seed, while we were hanging out the upstairs windows taking photos and filming video, momma bear left the cubs in our tree while she went for a walk around the neighborhood. While cars drove by just 30 feet away, we "babysat" her cubs for over an hour! Momma returned, looked up at me hanging out the window as if to say thank you, and then went to the base of the tree to await her cubs decent. How fun it is to see the cubs stop what they are doing when they hear momma coming back and to hear the sound of their claws on the tree during their decent. How fortunate we feel to have gotten such an close up look at the life of bears! Of course the unfortunate part is that for the safety of our family and neighbors, for the rest of the summer, we had to turn our bird feeder into a bird bath.

Update:Six days after we filmed this video momma and the cubs returned, the cubs ran up the tree and momma spilled the bird bath all over. The cubs climbed right back down and they all left. Sadly they will never be able to return to the tree again as it came down in the October storm that knocked out power to much of the northeast. We hope you enjoy this glimpse into the life of bears!
