I Got Into Pharmacy School!!!

UPDATE: as of 12/04/09 I have just finished up my first semester as a P1 at Wingate and I have loved every bit of it, awesome school!


READ DESCRIPTION!! I am currently a sophomore at Campbell University, I applied to both Campbell's pharmacy school, but I also applied to Wingate University's pharmacy school. My first interview with Campbell resulted in me being wait listed, which means that they can make a decision anytime between now and August! Pretty weak lol. On the other hand, my interview at wingate, turned out to be a different story, I GOT IN!!!!! Second year college student and now I'm going to be apart of Dr. of Pharmacy Program Class of 2013! I'll be making a decision within the next week of where I want to go but I think I've already made my decision :D

@HealthEuphoria but anyway, after that I called back the next day and set up another shadowing day, which eventually led to me coming in once a week now. I mostly do pharmacy tech work, which is super easy and super boring, but its a good mutualistic relationship, because I get quality experience and volunteer hours, and the owner gets free labor. But anyway, if you or your parents know a pharmacist, just ask if you can shadow/volunteer for a day and see where it leads

@HealthEuphoria I got quite lucky, actually; my dad is friends with the man that owns a pharmacy here in the town I live in, but all he did was get me in touch with him, then I just asked if there would be an opportunity to shadow at his pharmacy, he said yes, and I spent a day up there, which went well, the people were nice and I just spent the day talking to the pharmacists and techs, they also got me doing blister packs(the most mundane fucking task in the world, but a good way to burn time)

@tjd07x You are right, dentists definitely make more money and are in more demand. Thing is I want to do what i love doing... and that is not looking at people's teeth all day haha. Im in my third year too getting my bio sci degree. So stoked for pharm :) Thats great that you are volunteering at a pharmacy! did you just walk in and ask if they are willing to take on volunteers?

@HealthEuphoria I'm not in pharmacy school, going into my third year of my biochem degree. Still considering my options. I have a ~3.5GPA and I volunteer at a local community pharmacy once a week for 8 hrs. But I'm thinking about changing direction to dentistry. Dentistry > Pharmacy in regards to demand and salary, but we will see. How about you?
