Chess In Concert
Skellefteå, Sweden
September 1989

Judy Kuhn and Sissel Kyrkjebø in one of the best performances of this song! Judy may not be the best Florence vassy (that title belongs to Elaine Paige) but she's an amazing performer. 1:53 - 1:58 - very few can do that nowadays without yelling *clears throat* Idina... lol. :P

Enjoy!

  • probably one of the last times sissel was overshadowed in any degree by another singer--she has developed into such a spectacular performer.

  • @CattailsandRoses

I don't think Sissel was overshadowed in this performance. She's too good to be overshadowed imho lol! There are moments when you can hear Sissel's powerful voice floating to the surface. It's just that more emphasis is given to the character of Florence (Judy Kuhn) instead of Svetlana (Sissel). Honestly, I prefer this type of performance as compared to duets where singers try to outdo each other by belting or worse, shouting.

  • I just think that these two in a duet sing so perfectly together. How beautifuly presented! Niether one was above the other, I would love for them to get back together again to wow me again!!!!!

  • Judy's voice is so clear, you can hear every word she sings...I hate it when you can't understand what singer is saying

  • Sissel was overshadowed, trust me.

  • Kuhn's technique is impeccable, allowing her voice to resonate fully on every note. Pure pleasure.

  • Judy Kuhn is a fantastic example of why musical theater singers should learn good vocal production as well as dance/acting.... I can't stand musical theater these days....

  • The singing from both these women is lovely. When did singing a duet become all about one-up-manship. I was moved by the BOTH of their singing and their emotion.

  • Amazing, how effortless their singing seems.

  • @NotABoyScoutNYC Actually, there has been another singer like Judy ... her name is Sissel.

Both of them get far less recognition than they deserve.

  • YES! Thank you for uploading these videos! I LOVE Judy Kuhn! She is one of my inspirations. Love, love, love, love her!

  • have Judy sang "Heaven Help My Heart" in this concert?
