Scott Wiener, president of the Eureka Valley Promotions Association, speaks on the importance of open spaces at the ribbon cutting of the new 17th Street Pedestrian Plaza on May 13, 2009. Bevan Dufty, District 8 Supervisor, officiated the ceremony and thanked the many city offices and neighborhood groups that made the new plaza possible. Mayor Gavin Newsome provided a keynote address.

  • The plaza/parklet seems so "natural" at the location that I can't imagine the plaza/parket NOT being there now!

  • I wish they'd do this in other cities - small and large all across the USA. Great work SF!
