356. How to set up a planted aquarium design. Desiging a planted tank aquascape.

How to set up a planted aquarium design is something that is going to take some practice, but there are many things you can do to improve your planted aquarium design. I recommend looking at your tank with nature in mind. When you see a beautiful setting in nature there is usually some open space. Like when you see a bad ass looking tree out in a field that catches your eye. Open space is important in any planted aquarium design. You need to have open space to pull the design out more. Open space creates depth in an aquarium.If you look at many award winning planted tanks, you can see that they all use open space. In a way open space defines the plants more. You will see this often in my planted tank designs. I also like to use rough triangles as a guidelines for how to slope my planted tank designs. You can see in the 220 planted tank that I am going from left to right (which is typically how I do it.) The left side of the fishtank is full while it opens to more space on the left side. I use little plants in the front as well as open gravel spaces. I think this adds to the look of a design and how to get a better planted aquarium design. Open up your designs a little with more space above the plants and with the gravel. Mate I need help asap.

I have a 50 gallon tank. Keeping cold water fishes. Now here the thing, I want to turn my tank from normal to planted. So I've ordered 60 plant which gonna arrive in few days. Now I didnt know that I would have to add anything to keep them goin. I live in Uk and those plant substrate r gonna cost me 30quid to do it! Is there any alternative such as like putting soil under my coral sand?

hey dustin i always wondered why when looking at planted aquariums that i see they have those little hills and small dips.Is this so some of the waste dips so the roots can get it or is basically just for show?Also please check out my videos and tell me what you think/.also be nice my camera has sucky audio.

@ruckaisawesome i think that might be because the plants are taller over there and are close to the light wich is getting a light green/yellow tint because of hte duckweed and algae.
