  • Excellent video! Typical snooker shot when you get short on the blue and have to get in and out of baulk. Hope you noticed the increased control with these power shot with the pause in the back swing. You're body/head stays perfectly still and you keep making the shot. Good job!

  • Thanks for the comment. The pause still isn't as automatic as it needs to be in my technique. The timing for a shot like this is critical. My timing is still off most of the time. Studying the snooker players has made me a better pool player by exposing all the flaws in my technique.

  • Yeah, us snooker players tend to focus a lot on technique rather than just making balls. Glad you're staying with it. It'll help you a great deal in the long run with all cue sports to get the mechanics right. Rehearse the shot in your mind during the pause, then focus on the object ball and push the cue out straight.

  • Pool really doesn't require perfect technique. Allison Fisher (snooker background) was really the first player that inspired me to dissect my technique.

  • @drsnooker well, there's a diff between a valid issue and a point. the existance of snooker players & fans that look down on 9-ball as being "not real billiards" or "pool for children" cannot be denied. not all of you, of course. shit man, for me, if you're holding a cue, it's all good. as far as allison & kelly, both are fantastic & i have nothing but respect for them. i think we can all agree, anyone that has made a name for themselves in pool is talented & deserving. cheers, good shootin'!

  • @jdbankshot I like you, you're funny! But you don't have a point. I've watched all the top pool players come through here at tournaments and they all shoot like Alex Higgins (RIP). Head movements, body movements, elbow movements, you name it. Now compare that to the technique of Allison or Kelly. Perfectly stationary.

Nobody can win the debate whether snooker is better than pool, but let me leave you with this: number of wins (games not tournaments) by snooker players in pro pool tourneys: 800+

  • not very subtle on the sarcasm, mate. you play safe shots the same way? even u must admit, i raised some valid issues here. you've never experienced what i was refering to, about the aire of self-satisfaction? "we ply snookaaaa, therefore, weeya bettaa! " " we focus more on technique, bla bla" i notice you didn't defend o'sullivan & davis' 9-ball record. hmmmm......

  • Remind me of the Canadian definition of the word "suck". Steve Davis beat Earl, Efrin, and Souquet in 9ball. If you consider that sucking at 9ball, I'm expecting your name on the US open trophy soon! See ya then.

  • @jdbankshot. Thanks for the comments about snobbery and attitude. I love the irony, it really made my day. Good luck with your 9ball game!

  • @drsnooker so, you're saying 9-ball players are just concerned with pocketing balls? the problem with snooker & it's players & fans is the typical brit snoberry. you may not be a brit, but still, there is this attitude that if we don't play snooker we're inferior cue sportsmen. o'sullivan & davis suck at 9-ball. we focus on technique as well, your highness, trust me. just because it's not your preferred cue sport doesn't make us second class. just ask ronnie or steve.

  • Very nice introduction to this pattern -- there are dozens of useful variations.

Even a little casual 3 cushion play will help a player see more opportunities like this one.

  • lovin the pause on your back stroke! keep up the good work ff!
