Board Trustee Leslie Deardorff tells the community of Carpinteria that their imagery is racially biased, and that she will not resend her vote to remove the imagery.
thats my cousin!! and she rocks. and even though this is past tense I'm proud to say that this beautiful woman stood up for what she believed in and shared her views so eloquently. Any person who wishes to use Native symbolism in a disrespectful and mocking sense is only promoting ignorance in a very sloppy manner. Thank you Leslie for being so brave
"Board Trustee Leslie Deardorff tells the community of Carpinteria that their imagery is racially biased, and that she will not resend her vote to remove the imagery." Amazing. You know how to post a video to the web, but you can't use a simple, old-fashioned dictionary to check the spelling of the word "rescind"???? ("..resend her vote..)
If Ms. Deardorff thinks the "racially biased" imagery is so wrong and cares so much educating children without this racial bias then why didn't she notice it earlier on and do something about it the minute she took her seat on the school board? Apparently it was not important to her at that point. What a wishy, washy, phoney.
