@ZGAZBass28 - George; I've actually learned to read music 3 times! 1st as a 3rd grader taking piano lessons in Manhattan. Then as a 5th grader in the Bronx with sax teacher, all through HS in Cornwall, NY (sax), also where I joined "Ecstasy" funk band in Newburgh. Then read music at Monmouth College, then also took bass lessons about 4 years ago in the Village with "Buddy Booker" ... still ... it's just doesn't stick unless you pratice it all the time.

I see that you like funk. You're a funkateer for sure! You might want to up the ante and play "Glide" by Pleasure. . . it will definitely be a challenge but it is something to work towards and it's fun.

I have a Glide attempt on here, don't know how close I got it but it was a challenge since I've always been strictly a finger-style player!

@ZGAZBass28 - I'll check out the Glide vid..... It's a tough song to catch; it seems like I can't hear all of the notes, and I play by ear, so If I can't hear the note. . . . well y'know... I also use the finger-style.... but as of last week, i'm making a new effort to learn the slap style; there's alot of tutoring vids on YT.

Tony, yeah I play bass by totally by ear and when I listen to the original I know I did miss a few notes here an there...I think playing by ear gives you more of that "feel" although reading music is good too, which I'm learning as I learn the piano...Take care!
