A carb and turbo are shit step up to a 89 tta thats a real car . early carb / turbos are shit. to do it right you need efi . carbs just cant keep up with the turbo input output you need to have an ecm to keep up with the turbo. I love gm but this is one of the ten worst cars ever not my words. I do like to see it for historys sake. not a hater i'm just speaking the truth. 3.8 TURBO TRANS AM = 11 to12 SEC. 4.9 = 17 TO 18 SEC. THE CAR IS HEAVY TO just saying.

@paintballer223 haha i had an n/a 4.9 firebird, what a crap engine that is lol , sounded good and looked lovely but wouldnt pull the skin off a rice pudding hehe, next time id have a 6.6 or a chevy motor , i do love Firebirds

Nice to see a vid of a 2nd Gen T/A with the stock turbo. That's a fairly rare car you've got there. Take care of it and keep it stock(ish) and it will be worth a lot one of these days

I had one, not very fast off the line but punch it at about 30mph it would scream. Mine would always run a little to hot. The turbos didn't have an intercooler so they got hot real easy.

in 80 and 81 trans ams could have a n/a 301 (4.9l) a turbo 301 or a chevy 305 so yes they did come from factory with turbos
