@WarzSchoolchild No, Dr. Albert is asking you to use contraception and cut down your consumption.

The answer to overpopulated world of humans and animals is: unschallenged state of security and state of science.

I have a solution, we could harness the hot air coming out of this curmugeons pie hole and sustain the earth for thousands of years to come. There are so many variables in real life that are not even being taken into consideration of these calculations. Rest assured the world will continue, and if it doesn't what would be the net effect? You and I would be dead and that would be the end of it. If we could harness fearmongering as an energy source we could sustain the universe. EGGHEAD!

The world will continue, but we certainly won't. The variables will eventually decrease population growth and consumption, however, as was stated in an earlier video we need to choose if we control the population ourselves through education and prevention of birth, or do we allow environmental factors to control not only the human population but also cause the destruction of many habitats of thousands of other species just because you don't care about the 'net effect'.

@yousedcarguy: ...wow. You've rendered me speechless. Welp, my faith in logic has been smothered by the indignant insults of another. Truly a most humbling experience, I must say. I was under the impression that when people encountered something that was startling, outlandish or even unconscionable, they might to study it to better understand. Nope, Amanda, you are wrong. They call the herald an egghead. Yep. Nuclear holocaust, any moment now.

Essentially Dr. Albert is saying it is our patriotic duty to act like lemmings, and all jump off a cliff. You first Dr. Albert A. Bartlett!

Belief for technology is idiotic because people don't base their beliefs on possible physical phenomenon, but belief that future will always be better. People should understand near future technologies like nanotechnology, nano assemblers, fusion power, space elevators. 20 years ago some people believed that modern world would have food in pill form. That idea is idiotic because what kind of technology or phenomenon would that be based on?

Is it me or did the students not understand the absurdity of "making copper from other metals"?

lyanna96....I also expected some kind of reaction. Given the title "Arithmetic, Population, and Energy, perhaps they filled the room with non-science types like sociology majors?
