My class for Young Adult Literature watched the rape scene today and some of the guys laughed. My teacher and I both were upset about it. It felt like they were actually laughing at girls who are raped in real life (personally). I felt better that she talked to the class about the seriousness of the situation, but I'm not sure that they fully grasped the concept of that.

"Boogie Man is gone, he went right out that way." That's so insulting, regardless of what the mother knew. I mean, really, she's not seven. Clearly she was having a very disturbing dream and she can't treat her like a child who has petty fears and thoughts.

when I was in 7th grade they made up disect a worm - I fainted and almost cracked my heard open. Which was weird because I usually have a strong stomach. But ever since, I my stomach has gotten stronger, I can now handle ANYTHING

I didn't Speak Up for 4 years; it was her brother's friend; when i finally did speak about it it was to friends, but not her. Finally I grew some balls and asked her(even though it was 5 years later) i asked what was his last name; I only had a first; she said she didn't know but him and her brother had a falling out and moved to either Montana or Minnesota she wasn't sure; not speaking up was all my fault; but he did, was not; I wish I could find him, but it's too late; he won.
