Oh how this moves me. The great tragedy about The Wicker Man soundtrack is that Paul Giovanni didn't live to see it celebrated in the way it is today. Although the film was on its way to cult status when he died in 1990, I think it took until the 21st Century for the music to be fully appreciated and accepted for what it is - a 20th Century folk masterpiece.
Mr Giovanni take a celestial bow, you are not forgotten...

I lived where much of this film was filmed. I searched for years for a video copy of it and finally found it about 1990. Then all of a sudden it's everywhere. I even had a band we managed play at the wickerman festival near Dundrennan recently.

A beautiful song, and a totally amazing, must see film! It (for me) is a "culture clash" kind of story, the "horror" is implied, not overt, also totally avoid the dreadful Nicholas Cage remake, that is a disgrace.
