Eros Cinema was built in the late '60s in Jangpura, a post-partition refugee colony. Like other cinema halls, it had a substantial seating capacity with graded ticketing, which made sure that the cinema space was accessed by different classes. The roof of that old space is slowly being torn down to produce the new 400 seater multiplex with its high cost single ticket rate. See http://www.eros-group.com/eros-cineplex.htm#
A new cinema public will emerge. For an extensive discussion on this, see Ravi Vasudevan's essay.
