Busted my Crankbrothers Iodine Freehub Cassette and it was awful. You don't expect a wheelset this beautiful and this expensive to just give up on you in a few months.

I thought repair and customer service was going to take months since I'm in a third world country where good customer support is a rarity more than a right but I was really delighted to find out that the official dealers here (VeloCity) provide excellent customer service and they were able to fix the whole thing in a good 1/2 days.

Kudos to Crankbrothers and the local dealers here for the effort to serve their customers. The brand may have well-known freehub issues but what I know is they've redesigned the whole thing already. Honestly I wanted to sell my Iodines after it broke but the service is so good that I'm planning to get a pair of Cobalts for my 29er.

Now only if SRAM, Avid and Rock Shox would have even just a hair of the customer service Crankbros have here...

  • It still happened even with the hexagonal freehub? I've broken 3 of the old freehubs (shown here) in less than a year but when they came up with the hexagonal freehub the rims have been bombproof! Never had an issue ever since

  • i had the same problem with my cobalt. the free hub broke only after 6 mo of mostly road use. i did get the new version of the free hub with no questions asked. the customer service was very very good. 6 mo afterwards it happened again.

customer service is one thing, but product reliability is another. wheels roll amazing!!! id say better than CK's, but if their gonna break every six months it sucks. my old cross max didnt give any problems for over 5 years.
