natto is wonderful!
-
I found a Japanese market near where I live (Tampa Bay, Florida) I am sure with some searching you could find similar in Canada. I haven't purchased any natto from that store, its got a pretty scary reputation.

Natto is definitely an acquired taste. How long did it take before you grew accustomed to it? The description, "rotten soy" doesn't sound too appetizing, so prefer to call them "cultured, like yogurt," or "fermented, like beer." I still get the response, "UGH, don't you have something better to eat??"

It took three tries for me to like it. Now I LOVE it. How will I survive in Canada ??? No natto :(

This looks interesting, although I have no idea what nira and natto is. nira looks like shallots and natto looks a bit like slimy beans. I think you get this things only in Japan or Asia.
(Btw you could once show how to make this sweet, sesame saladdressing. I love it)

You pretty much got it right. Natto is smelly, slimy beans and nira is like shallots I think (garlic chives according to wikipedia, leek according to my dictionary).
