And, yes, he was a Nazi...but many people joined the Nazi party b/c they wanted a rebirth in Germany (after WWI). Hitler promised that. The TRUE intent of his agenda wasn't discovered until after he was in office. Nazis were people...many of whom chose evil over good...Schindler is an example of a Nazi who used his position to SAVE lives rather than destroy them.

How was he a hero? B/C when everyone else was "falling in line" with the Nazi agenda, he risked everything he had to save those he could. He was a business man, but had he just brought the Jews to his factory and didn't have them work, he would have been found out & the Jews would have been taken away & killed. He spent MILLIONS of his own money buying Jewish lives. His factory LOST money during the war. But b/c of him 1300 people who would have died, lived.
