Mar 13 2008 the sin of intolerance

Dear Governor Schwarzenegger -

The Vatican got a lot of press lately when Archbishop Gianfranco Girotti released an updated list of modern evils. The list includes genetic modification, carrying out experiments on humans, polluting the environment, causing social injustice, hoarding wealth, and taking drugs.

I'm a 'back to basics' kind of guy so I decided to look up sin in the Catechism of the Catholic Church on www.vatican.va. Right there, at the top of Part Three, Section One, Chapter One, Article 8, Part II, paragraph 1849 is the Roman Catholic Church's official definition of sin:

"Sin is an offense against reason, truth, and right conscience; it is failure in genuine love for God and neighbor caused by a perverse attachment to certain goods."

Now I'm not as much of an expert on sin as Archbishop Girotti, however it seems to me that trying to block two people from getting married is a sin by every measure -- and a mortal sin when it is done in full knowledge of the harm that this groundless exclusion causes to people such as me, my partner, kids and parents.

I've been told that homosexuality is a sin, but I find it hard to believe people who are so attached to protecting 'traditional marriage' that they forget all reason, truth and conscience. A good neighbor would never do something like that to me. So I will stick to the basic definition of sin, and live in conscience that I am not the one making baby Jesus cry.

2things about this video: gianfranco girotti is a bishop not archbishop. Second u pronounce G in italian nearly the same like in english so u say g like germany not like gross. :)

I was lucky enough to fall in love with somebody, and be loved in return. Out of that union God gave us two wonderful children who are the light of our lives. Anybody who says that "nothing good comes from same-sex marriage" has never met my family. You seem to have shut your eyes to God's wonderful works, and that is sad.

And as much as I witness God's wonderful works, your behavior gives Catholics the bad rep they deserve.

Absolutely NOTHING good comes from same-sex marriage. It is a grave sin against God, no matter what any of the Heretical Christian faiths say.

2+2 does not equal 5, no matter how logical your arguments seem. God's law is God's law. Accept it and be happy.

@drdst17 I'm not Catholic and neither is Sal. Episcopalians and Presbyterians don't consider homosexuality to be a "grave disorder." Neither does the American Psycholigical Association or any of a hundred other groups.

It's also weird that you are asking having Sal leave his family, breaking the promises he made to them in God's name - his marriage vows - because of your (incomplete) beliefs.

There is much good that comes from same-sex marriage; to ignorantly dismiss it is evil.

@jtw90210 Homosexuality is evil because it is a grave disorder and sin against God. There are many references to it in the Bible. Also, the Catechism of the Catholic Church has proclaimed homosexuality to be a grave disorder. It goes against the Natural Law created by God.

I don't hate homosexuals, just their sinful nature. I hate my own sinful nature just as much.

But to call Evil, Good: which is what this video does, is the definition of Evil.

Jesus teaches us how to tell the difference: the fruits of my work are healthy happy families prospering in God's grace. The fruits of your work are hate crimes, teen suicides, and broken marriages.

You are an idiot, and the last person who is "qualified" to determine what is Evil or Good.

Homosexuality is evil, no matter what you or other idiots say. "Beware of those who call evil 'good' and good 'evil'". Intolerance of Evil acts is never a bad thing.
