  • They used this particular cage in New York at Madison Square Garden and Philadelphia at The Spectrum as well.

  • this would have been the best match in the wwf the last 8yrs and back in the day it was no big deal. WWF is like the NBA it peaked in the 80's was watchable in the 90's then got to the point where its unwatchable with the irony being the NBA is more scripted and fake

  • Nothing beats an 80s WWF wrestling crowd. The magic was there, the crowd was (for the lack of a better phrase) "easy to please" and wrestlers actually hit each other rather than the choreographed garbage you see on Monday Night Raw these days.

Heenan put it best, saying that wrestling is over... they told the public how to do the tricks, and from then on - its got steadily more tedious. Wouldn't consider a WWE ppv these days, same stories on different wrestlers and too much outside interference

  • @pitdog34 awesome anecdote! wish I'd been there!

  • @maccafan1974 I hate wwe cage matches where the winner basically runs away from the fight... Pin the guy in the middle of a cage with Savage caving in Honkey's chest with an elbow from 15 feet high on top the cage I say!

  • ppl always complain(often rightfully) about how 80s wwf was all cartoony compared to the nwa/jcp, but this a great example at how complex the booking was in order to keep the fans interested in the ENTIRE card and every show...

  • The hart Foundation seemed so odd as heels & Rick Martel seemed odd as a face so much better as a heel

  • events like this don't happen anymore. A non PPV event, that was built up from previous non-PPV events that happened ... like the Saturday Night's Main Event where Bret & Neidhart cost Savage the IC Title and then the following Saturday Night's Main Event where Savage beat Bret Hart. Of course Strike Force took the tag belts from the Harts. All those events leading to a six man tag team steel cage match. No belts on the line, just scores to settle.

  • Tag Team cage matches like this are pretty rare.

  • This is so cool!! RIP Macho Man
