Famous D-Day piper Billy Millin died August 17, 2010. He had received the French Croix de Guerre, was memorialized in The Longest Day movie, and there are plans to erect a statue of him at Sword Beach. German prisoners said they did not shoot at Millin because they thought he was crazy.
Well done to all they bairns. I cry when I hear this tune as my dad was with the Kings Own Scottish Borderers who landed on D Day. This was their regimental tune. As the youngest in the family I got all his stories before he died.
